Geologic mapping and El Niño in southern California:
Where landslides and debris-flows susceptibility maps are being constructed
The U.S. Geological Survey's Southern California
project is using a predictive model for describing areas more prone to damage
from landsliding and debris flows. It also is using studies of past damage
from El Niño events to sharpen the description of areas prone to
possible future damage. The map shows where debris flow maps will be available
