In the foreground is the Furnace Creek Formation. The base of the Furnace creek Formation can be seen in the left side of the photo between the rounded, light-colored playa beds of the Furnace Creek Formation meets the rougher, darker-colored rock in the distance.

In the right foreground, the tilted Furnace Creek Formation playa beds are overlain by a dark, reddish, cliff-forming conglomerate unit.

In the distance is the bright white of the Death Valley salt pan and the Panamint Range beyond. Tucki Mountian is at center right.
